Hi Erminia and all,
As Charlene's request, I looked over Korean examples. Here are my comments and questions.
Bib records
Slide 5 : 260 21-Segi should be changed to 21-segi (s-- small letter)
Slide 14: the format need to be changed. I do not know it is only my screen problem, but the sentences in the ppt overlapped.
Slide 15: I think that you used the example I created. I updated my record yesterday after consulting Pat Williams, our Head of Monographic Original Cataloging
You may add 007
300 1 DVD : ǂb digital, sound, color ; ǂc 12 cm
336 moving image ǂ2 rdacontent
Also, I created RDA audio CD record. If you would like to add it to your slide, please use it. OCLC #773837102
One of fixed fields-- Rules is <C>? I was told to put <Z>in there, so I am wondering how these are different.
Slide 17, 18
400 Please have space between last name and first name. (These are not wrong, but having spaces look better)
Slide 19,20, 21
There are many square boxes in PPT. Square boxes should be replace to apostrophes.
Lastly, all the breves are not located in the center of each alphabet but slightly moved to right side-- I do not also know that only I can see those in my PPT. If in this case, please ignore my comments (as well as Square boxes)
Other than that, Korean examples look wonderful. Thank you so much for your work and please let me know if you have other questions.
You file looks great! Thank you for all your hard work! Not liking you all, I am still using AACR2. So my questions below are just my curiosity, hope that you don't mind.
Slide 7, you may want to present the alternative 245c as inset in the space area above the 245c in the record. just a thought.
Slide 9, don't know if question would raise as why the previous example author in 100 and this one in 700, does AACR2 concept of main entry still apply here in RDA within MARC?
Slide 11, question about your note the 2nd line, what does it mean "300 for cd should be 1 audio discs (approximately 45 min. or 1 hr. whatever the time is) :ǂb digital ; ǂc 4 3/4 in." a repeated 300 field for CD or... ?
Slide 13, The uniform title with (online) come back again under RDA? Isn't CONSER has some discussion on it?
Slide 17, for 370, wonder if it is helpful to have inset of the place name in auth 150 in the space above, so it's easy to see the change, or not necessary?
Slide 20, for 374, Dean of what? Dean is really not a word for occupation, kind strange to see it in this field.
Slide 21, for note 2nd line, may want to use inset to bring out the RDA rule number and RDA form. Seeing it while hearing you say is probably better than just hearing it, what do you think?
I suggest several slide to use inset to bring out useful information, such as rule number, how to record data for date, place name, etc. But it's you call. Thank you very much! --Shi
Dear All, I uploaded the latest ppt. with correction and the two new examples to the wiki. However, when I went to RDA_CJK_s4_pt.ppt under the download tab, it is still the first version of the slides. When I clicked on the ppt under “Recent Activity”, the latest version is there. Do you know why it would not upload and replace the older version?
Dear Erminia,
Thank you for your explanation on my comments yesterday. About DVD 300, you can just use my comment as your reference. I created my record based on rules and sometimes, here at UChicago, there are certain preferences for making description. There are so many optional cases!
I looked over your updated records again.
Please change all the ayns and alifs to apostrophes --Slide 20 (670), Slide 23 (370,371,400, 670), P.24 (100, 400, 670).
